Forgive Akiolu And Move On, Buhari Tells Igbo

buhari_april
The President-elect, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has urged the Ndigbo and other non-indigenes in Lagos State to forgive all that has been said against them and move on for the sake of peace.
Buhari said this during a rally in Lagos to address the comments made by the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu.
Akiolu has been under fire since Monday when he reportedly threatened the Ndigbo in Lagos to either vote for the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, or perish in the lagoon.
The Peoples Democratic Party on Tuesday asked Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola to suspend Akiolu forthwith.
However, the President-elect described Lagos as home for all, adding that the time had come for Nigerians to look past ethnicity in the general interest of peace and unity.
He said, “I admire what your governor has done in terms of mobilising revenue to sustain Lagos development. I have a lot of respect for Governor Fashola for his hard work, commitment to the state and the country.
There is no doubt that Lagos is a mini-Nigeria. We are all here and it has been mentioned by previous speakers that everybody (tribe) is adequately represented in Lagos.
“So, I assure you. If you vote for the continuity of APC in Lagos, you stand to gain more. It is in your interest that you vote for the APC.
“Please when you go home tell your neighbours, relatives and even the opposition to please bury the hatchet. Let them fall in line and vote the APC.
“When we were coming in our bus, Fashola told me how Lagos State had been spending to maintain the federal infrastructure here such as buildings, roads and other institutions.
I had promised before that if I won the election and became the President, I would make Lagos my priority.
Governor Fashola is already holding to me to that promise so I would like the incoming governor to listen carefully and make sure he makes me honour my undertaking.”
The National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, said Lagos was responsible for building the opposition and ensuring that it finally took control of the centre.
He said it would be a great injustice for Lagos to become an opposition state after working so hard to build a bright future.

FORMER Federal Commissioner for Information and South South leader, Chief Edwin Clark yesterday condemned in very strong terms, the presentation of Certificate of Commendation by the President of the United States of America, President Barrack Obama to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega.
Speaking to Journalists yesterday in Abuja, Chief Clark stressed that the presentation of a ‘Certificate of Commendation’ to Jega over the conduct of the Presidential and National Assembly elections March 28th, 2015 with the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly polls yet to be conducted was too hasty,
Clark who urged the US to leave Nigeria alone, said that Nigeria remains an independent country capable of doing its things, its own way and not according to the dictates of the western world, adding, ” I was surprised that Barack Obama gave Professor Attahiru Jega an award when the elections are still on . Obama should be tactful in handling the affairs of Africa.
US should leave us alone, Nigeria is an Independent country. They tried it Egypt, they should not try anything in Nigeria,
President Obama who presented the certificate to Jega, would be recalled was represented by the United States Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle.
The ‘Certificate of Commendation’ was awarded to Jega for his outstanding and sterling performance in conducting a credible election. Obama said what Prof. Jega has done should be replicated by all.

Army Tells Amaechi “parade Has Changed Gear”

Governor Rotimi Amaechi is optimistic that members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will not be harassed and molested by the Nigerian Army or Police following the victory of General Muhammadu Buhari.
Amaechi who vowed to use the law to bring the killers of Chief Christopher Adube, his three children, his younger brother, lyke Ikechukwu and his two gatemen to book assured party supporters that security agencies will no longer harass them.
While addressing loads of APC supporters in Bani, Bean Ken-Khana, Kaani-babee, Nwiyakara, Kono-Boue, Uegwere-Boue, Zaakpor, Kaani and Opu-oko communities, Amaechi frowned at the electoral fraud and rigging of the presidential election by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and warned that any criminally minded person who attempts to deprive Rivers people from exercising their legitimate franchise will be made to face the full wrath of the law.
According to him, “We are all eyewitnesses to what happened during the last presidential election where the Peoples Democratic Party carried out electoral fraud with INEC officers and the police. But now, the police or the military will not harass you again. I have come to thank you all for refusing to vote without result sheets in 28th March elections. I called one of my friends in the army and cautioned him then he told me on phone that, “Sir, Parade has changed gear”.
Governor said what the statement means is that, supporters of APC will no longer be molested and harassed by the police or the military. Everybody can come out and exercise their franchise.

Stop The Unbecoming Comments Directed At Oba Akiolu – OPC Warns

Stop The Unbecoming Comments Directed At Oba Akiolu – OPC Warns

Gani-Adams
The leadership of the Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, has released a statement warning Nigerians to stop the uncomplimentary remarks being directed at the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, following his threats to Igbo residents in Lagos last Sunday.
According to OPC, the Yoruba traditional heritage must be respected by all and as a group, they will ‘not tolerate anybody irrespective of their places of birth of conviction denigrate what their hosts (Yorubas) hold sacred’.
Read the OPC statement below:-
The attention of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) has been drawn to some unruly and unbecoming comments purportedly in reaction to alleged comments by the paramount ruler of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu and warn all those involved to desist from such unbecoming acts forthwith.
The institution of the oba is one the Yoruba race hold in high esteem, and the OPC as irredentist defenders of Yoruba culture and heritage would therefore not tolerate anybody -irrespective of their places of birth of conviction- to denigrate what their hosts (Yorubas) hold sacred.
While we accept that that institution should remain non-partisan, it must also be acknowledged that the Palace of the Oba of Lagos has already claimed that the royal father was misrepresented in the press and pleaded for understanding.
Be that as it may, the Yoruba’s accommodating and loving nature should not be misconstrued as timidity. As hosts, we have given all our visitors enough space and opportunity to bloom and flourish without molestations, and of all the tribes and visitors in Lagos, none has enjoyed the benevolence of Lagos and indeed all of Yorubaland as much as the Igboman and nation.
The evidence of the claim above can be found in the fact that Yorubaland as a whole is the most cosmopolitan area in Nigeria. We Yoruba have allowed other tribes to own businesses, properties and even contest and hold political positions on Yoruba soil in a manner unreciprocated anywhere else in Nigeria.
Using the same Lagos as an example, the fact that the likes of Pastor Ben. Akabueze and Joe Igbokwe have become an integral part of the political frame work of Lagos State for years now is proof enough that Lagos and indeed the Yoruba are excellent hosts. Akabueze has for the last ten years been directing and coordinating the economic direction of the state from his enviable position as the honorable commissioner for budget and planning while Igbokwe has held sways general manager at LASIMRA and head, UFRU.
Others such as Ngozi Nwosu the popular actress from Imo State who got N6million for overseas surgery, the late comrade Chima Ubani whose family got cash and a gift of 3bedroom accommodation at Marwa Gardens as well as First Consultant Hospital that got N50 million as compensation for involvement in the Ebola case are evidence that the Igbos are not despised in Lagos.
Nowhere in Nigeria -east of the Niger- is the Yoruba or any other tribe accorded the kind of gesture the Igbos have been enjoying in Lagos in the last 12 or so years since these bonafide Igbo men entered into the Lagos political scene.
As for the likes of Bode George, Fani-Kayode, Musiliu Obanikoro and their party the PDP, their outcry is the reaction of a person or group without shame and critical thinking (arojinle).
Is it that they have a case of memory dysfunction or are they just plain mischievous.
Have they so quickly forgotten that it is their party that started the politicization of the institution and monarchy with the president’s visit to the same Oba of Lagos earlier this January as the forerunner to visits to many other obas in Yorubaland.
None of the PDP members complaining now saw any thing wrong with the attempts to involve our obas in partisan politics until it backfired against them and their party.
This brings us to the warning we issued earlier, when Gani Adams in his treacherous, sycophantic and reactionary move turned on the good people of Lagos unleashing violence and threat of violence against the perceived enemies of his paymasters. If Adams had not behaved like an omo ojuorolari, he should by now be defending the sacredness of the stool of the Oba of Lagos or any other one in Yorubaland for that matter. If Adams had not collected the billions he did, along with MASSOB and other ethnic groups, his co-travellers would now be degenerating and abusing our hospitality the way no one can replicate in their homelands.
In closing, we enjoin all members of the OPC and indeed the Yoruba nation to beware of the enemies within like Gani Adams and with one voice condemn all fifth columnist within our fold. And with the foregoing it is abundantly clear that Gani Adams who brought this odium upon us must quit the OPC.

Man Beaten To Coma In Lagos After Refusing To Pay Prostitute Because Of Buhari Promo Post

Man Beaten To Coma In Lagos After Refusing To Pay Prostitute Because Of Buhari Promo Post

Few days after the Election, The News about “Nigerian Prostitutes Congratulate Buhari, Declare Nationwide Free S*x
A certain man, Haruna Lawal reportedly landed on a hospital bed after having fun with a commercial sex worker in Ejigbo area of Lagos without paying.
Lawal had gone to a red light zone after reading online that the National Association of Nigerian Prostitutes had declared a three-day free s3x promo to celebrate the victory of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari of the APC in the just concluded presidential poll.
According to reports, Lawal, after having rounds of fun with the sex hawker all through the night, zipped up the following morning and thanked her for ‘driving him very well’. However, problem erupted when the lady demanded for her pay and Lawal reminded her of the ongoing promo announced by the association.
Angered by his submission, the lady whose name was given as Emmanuella strangled Lawal on his neck and demanded to for her pay.
“In the process of the struggle, Lawal slapped the lady and that attracted the attention of other prostitutes in the place who pounced on him and gave him the beaten of his life. He was seriously beaten because he could not afford to even pay half of the money. The prompt intervention of other patrons saved him from being lynched,” an eye witness told DailyPost on Thursday.
When they visited the area on Thursday the lady, who was still angry lambasted the leadership of the association for taking a decision without consulting them.
“How can Jessy and Madam Efoyo (referring to the national president) declare free-sex without properly informing us?”, she asked.
I only read it on the pages on newspaper. Make them, bring the money wey APC give them na. Na any politician get my p**sy for me?” a visibly angry Nuella, as she’s called told their reporter on Thursday.
When reminded that the association had already made it known that it is free sex for three days, the lady fumed,
“Oya oga journalist come f**ck na, because na person get my thing for me,” before she furiously walked away.
When contacted on phone, the general secretary of NANP, Jessica Elvis said Nuella might not be a registered member of the association.
“From the report I have so far, our members have offered free service to over 7, 000 people nationwide and we are still counting. I am sure the so called Nuella is not a registered member of the association. We will investigate and get back to you. Thank you”, she added.

APC Blast Alao-Akala Over His “Sai Buhari-Sai Akala” Campaign Posters

apc-logo
The All Progressives Congress in Oyo State has taken a swipe at the gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party, Adebayo Alao-Akala, over the circulation of posters bearing pictures of the former governor and the President-Elect, Muhammadu Buhari, apparently, to gain sympathy from the electorate ahead of next week’s governorship election in the state.
Campaign posters bearing the pictures of Messrs Buhari and Alao-Akala with “Sai Buhari, Sai Akala” boldly written on them have flooded particularly Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.Akala buhari
Reacting to the development, the Director of Publicity and Strategy of the Oyo State chapter of the APC, Olawale Sadare, described the development as “another shameful act coming from enemies of the good people of the state”.
11
“Not a few people found it unbelievable to see the picture of the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, on Alao-Akala’s campaign posters,” Mr. Sadare said. “Since Wednesday evening when those disgusting posters were sighted in parts of Ibadan, a good number of concerned citizens have been expressing their amazement at the development.
“Meanwhile, the ruling APC in the state view the action of the sponsors of such obnoxious campaign materials as a desperation taken too far. It is indeed another in the series of grand delusion which most members of the opposition have been feeding the public with in their bid to hijack power and return the state to the era of bad governance, official corruption and impunity.”
He added that Mr. Buhari, given “what he has always represented”, would not “contemplate throwing up a corrupt element for an election or appointment”.
In spite of the antics of the opposition in Oyo State to mislead the public, the APC remained confident that its candidate and incumbent Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, would be re-elected for an unprecedented second term on April 11, Mr. Sadare said.

He shared his congratulatory message to Gen Buhari on his Facebook page. Read below…
It has pleased the Almighty God to give victory to Gen Mohammed Buhari, the Presidential candidate of the APC and the President elect.
We accept this as the Will of God and I personally congratulate the general for his success. We have ran a good race and fought a gallant battle. We are bowed but not cowed. We lost the crown but we gained a trophy.
The PDP family must not despair; If it took general Buhari 30 yrs to come back to power, it should take us much less.
For the opportunities we have had we give God All the Glory.
To millions of our supporters we say thanks
To those who are our adversaries, the battle has been fought, and it has been won & lost
The strife is over for the next 4 yrs ONLY.
We rejoice with APC & the people of Nigeria
on the progress we have jointly made in our democratic journey. For our democracy to endure it is important that the winner clearly emerges while the loser concedes with equanimity.
Certainly we will be back. We will overcome this defeat and rise again to power and glory
In a twinkle of an eye.
God bless Nigeria

THE Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, MEND, has commended the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) on his victory in the 2015 presidential elections, saying Nigerians made the right choice.
The group in a statement by its spokesperson, Jomo Gbomo, said, “The Nigerian people have spoken and elected General Mohammadu Buhari to be the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” adding, “In doing so, we have not only made the right choice of a new leadership, we have also reaffirmed the strength of our democracy.”
“President-elect, General Mohammadu Buhari’s message of hope, freedom and opportunity resonates with our group, as it does with the Nigerian people.
In these difficult times, with the economic crisis and security challenges, we are confident that under your leadership, Nigeria will once again regain its peace and unity,” the group asserted.‎
MEND also lauded President Goodluck Jonathan for his outstanding show of statesmanship “in conceding defeat and setting precedence as the first ever incumbent Nigerian President to be defeated and concede defeat, without any interference.”

I Will Not Accept Tenure Renewal – Jega

I Will Not Accept Tenure Renewal – Jega

jega
The chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Attahiru Jega, has declared that he would not serve another term as boss of the electoral body when his first tenure expires in June, even if he is asked.
Speaking in an interview with the Hausa Service of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC Hausa) last night which was monitored by our reporter in Abuja, Jega said having played his role in the political space for five years, it was time another person was given the chance to contribute his own quota.
The nation’s chief electoral officer in the just-concluded March 28 presidential election acknowledged that the task of leading INEC was a difficult one, and said he was not interested in tenure renewal and would not accept an offer of extension.
“I am grateful to God. I was asked to come and contribute my own quota to the national development and I have done my bit to the best of my ability.
“Whatever assignment one will do for five years – just like this difficult one, to me if one is able to successfully accomplish the task, someone else should be given the opportunity, because for me I am not interested and if I am requested to serve again, I will not do it, by God’s grace,” Jega said.
He noted that the introduction of the card reader device in the 2015 general elections had significantly helped to make the presidential election transparent, adding that there were few challenges that would be looked into in the forthcoming governorship/state assembly elections, including late coming attitude of electoral officials to polling centres.
Commenting on the allegations of bias against him by PDP chieftain, Mr Godsday Orubebe, at the National Collation Centre in Abuja on Tuesday, Jega said he was unperturbed because he knew he had nothing to hide.
“I maintained my calmness because I knew all the allegations were false. There is nothing that frightens me or disturbs me because, of all our actions, we have explanations for them,” he added.
Jega was appointed by President Goodluck Jonathan in 2010 to replace Prof Maurice Iwu. His five-year tenure elapses in June this year.

Femi Fani-Kayode Releases Statement On The Presidential Election

Femi Fani-Kayode Releases Statement On The Presidential Election

femi-fani-kayode
Text of a press conference addressed by Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, Director Media and Publicity Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Organisation on April 1, 2015.
Ladies and gentlemen of the media,
We have come here today to express our gratitude to the Nigerian people for the overwhelming support that we received over the last few weeks when it comes to the issue of the Presidential election.
We fought a virile, strong, aggressive and very effective campaign on behalf of our candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan and we put the case to the Nigerian people as to why we believe that he ought to have been elected as President for a second term.
We are very proud of the efforts of our President and of our party and we are also very proud of the efforts of every single one of those who participated in the Presidential Campaign Organisation.
As a Directorate we could not have asked for anything more in terms of support and encouragement from our colleagues and comrades within the party and the Campaign Organisation.
I am personally very proud of my team, every single one of them; my Assistant Directors, my officers, my advisory team and every single one of those that joined hands to help us to state our case and to sell our candidate to the Nigerian people.
It has however come to a point that we must tell the world and the Nigerian people about how we feel about the outcome of the election.
What we will say here today is basically to reiterate and to reflect the words of our leader and President, President Goodluck Jonathan. We start by saying that we commend and we congratulate General Muammadu Buhari for winning this election.
We also wish to commend our President, President Goodluck Jonathan, for having the courage to concede that he has lost the election at the earliest moment and also for being able to stand up and rise above party politics and being able to speak like a statesman.
We therefore urge the Nigerian people and our teeming supporters to stand firm and continue to support the democratic process and continue to agitate for a better Nigeria.
We urge them to continue to support our party the PDP as best as they can even though we lost this election. We ask them to co-operate with the incoming government and to remember that we are first and foremost Nigerians before anything else.
On the day of the election when I went to vote at Ile-Ife, I held a press conference in which I told the people that more than anything else that we should try our very best to keep the peace in this country and to keep the country moving forward.
I also reminded them that in every election there will always be a winner and a loser. It is a mark of our humanity and it is also symptomatic of the type of people that we are and who we are that when the time comes we can say we fought a good fight but we lost.
And having lost, it does not mean that it is the end to the world, it just means that we need to re-group, re-organise ourselves and begin the process all over again because another elections will come in a few years time. And that is where we are today.
We have conceded that we have lost. We acknowledge the fact that we fought a good fight. We do not have any fears about the future. We did the right thing during the campaign.
We have no regrets about our candidate or the way in which we conducted our campaign and we will live to fight another day
Finally let me commend all our colleagues on the other side for also standing up for what they believed in.
There was absolutely nothing personal as regards this Directorate or myself. I had nothing personal against anybody.
I was simply doing my job for which I have no regrets and I wish them well and I sincerely hope that they will take Nigeria to a level that we can all be proud of.
May God grant each and everyone of us peace. May He watch over our nation. May He guide our President for the next two months whilst he is still in power and thereafter and may He guide and lead the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, in the herculean task that lies ahead for him.
My prayer is that he brings our nation together, heals the wounds and that he builds the bridges in terms of religion, ethnicity and region that he needs to build in order for us to make Nigeria a better place and to ensure that Nigeria becomes a great country that she is destined to be.
I want to end this message by thanking our colleagues in the press for always responding to us so quickly and for always being ready to hear our message and for putting it out there.
Also those on the social media, both friend and foe, we thank you for your efforts.
We thank our foes because they kept us on our toes and we thank our friends because they encouraged us and gave us hope.
May God grant you all peace and joy and may you live long and prosper.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Jonathan Has Nothing To Fear From Me – Buhari

Buhari-2015
Nigeria’s president-elect Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday sought to reconcile past differences with incumbent Goodluck Jonathan, extending a hand of friendship to his beaten election opponent.
“Let me state clearly: President Jonathan has nothing to fear from me,” he said in Abuja after his victory was confirmed in the early hours. “He is a great Nigerian and still our president.”
He added: “Democracy and the rule of law will be established in the land. Let’s put the past behind us, especially the recent past. We must forget our old battles and past grievances and forge ahead.”
